2012 Photography workshops by Nikos Economopoulos

Addis Ababa is a noisy, colorful, vibrant African city, with a small-town feel despite its 5m inhabitants.

It has a strange mix of old and new, and a unique mix of symbols from the different strands of its history, from imperial statues and colonial monuments to Fascist buildings and from hammer-and-sickle plackards from the former Marxist regime to high-rise hotels.

Although it lacks a specific city-center, it is  safe and easy to wander around heading towards the Mercato, the grandest bazaar in Africa.
